The cron expression */8 * * * * triggers at minutes 0, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, and 56 each hour — roughly every 8 minutes. Since 60 doesn't divide evenly by 8, there's a 4-minute gap between :56 and :00 of the next hour.

With 7-8 executions per hour, this schedule provides a reasonable polling interval for tasks that don't need sub-5-minute frequency. It's less common than */5 or */10 but works well for medium-priority monitoring, periodic API syncs, and cache refreshes.

If uniform spacing matters to your use case, consider */10 * * * * (every 10 minutes, perfectly even) as the nearest clean alternative.
