Terms of Service

Last updated: May 17, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of SimpleCronTab (the “Service”), a website and free public API operated by SABOPS as an independent project. By visiting the Service or sending a request to the API you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The service is free and provided “as is”

The Service is offered free of charge. We make no commercial guarantees about availability, correctness, or fitness for any particular purpose. The visual builder, plain-English humaniser, next-execution preview, format converter, and the JSON API endpoints are provided on a best-effort basis. The humaniser can be wrong on edge cases — most notably the day-of-month / day-of-week OR-semantics gotcha described in the Disclaimer — and you must independently verify any expression you plan to put into production.

Acceptable use

You may use the Service for any lawful purpose. You may not, however:

  • Bypass, defeat, or attempt to defeat the rate limiter on the public API (currently one hundred requests per minute per IP), or coordinate requests from multiple addresses to evade the cap.
  • Scrape the rendered HTML at a rate that materially degrades the experience for other visitors.
  • Embed the visual builder or any other interactive part of the Service inside another product without clearly attributing SimpleCronTab as the source.
  • Use the API to bulk-enumerate cron expressions and resell the parsed output as a paid product.
  • Reverse-engineer or republish ad-related identifiers gathered from the Service.
  • Submit content (for example through the contact email) that is unlawful, harassing, or designed to defame any person.

Reasonable, occasional automated use of the API for testing, monitoring, or hobby projects is welcome and is the reason rate limits exist rather than authentication.

Intellectual property

The Service's source code, design, written editorial content, and structured data are owned by SABOPS or licensed to SABOPS from open-source contributors. Cron syntax itself, and the man-page conventions it follows, are not subject to anyone's copyright; they are reproduced here as reference material. You retain all rights in the cron expressions you build using the Service — the expression you type into the editor is yours, not ours.

You may quote short excerpts of the editorial content with attribution and a link back to the page you quoted from. You may not republish the SEO landing pages, platform guides, or the cheat sheet in bulk on another domain.

No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. SABOPS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SABOPS is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This explicitly includes — but is not limited to — missed scheduled jobs, jobs that fired more times than intended, operational outages caused by trusting humaniser output, and any business loss caused by acting on the next-execution preview without independent verification.

You acknowledge that scheduling code is high-consequence: a wrong cron expression in production can delete data, page on-call engineers, or trigger billing surges. Use the Service as a reference and a productivity aid, not as a substitute for testing.

Third-party services

The Service displays advertising provided by Google AdSense and uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for measurement. Your interaction with those third parties is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies, not by these Terms. See the Privacy Policy for details on what is shared and why.

Termination

SABOPS may discontinue, suspend, or change the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may also restrict access to the API or to specific pages if we detect abuse. Because the Service does not maintain user accounts, “termination” for an individual visitor generally means an IP-level block on the API; the website itself remains accessible.

Changes to these terms

These Terms may change as the Service evolves. When they do, the “Last updated” date at the top of the page changes. Material changes will additionally be summarised in a notice on the home page for at least thirty days. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator's jurisdiction of residence. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith correspondence at tech@serviceproviderskenya.com shall be brought in the competent courts of that jurisdiction. Where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, those rights are not affected by this clause.
